The Spartan King

The last time I put a post in my blog was way back in 2013. So its been too long I guess. I never stopped my art stuff though. And this is another sketch I did recently; The Spartan King.

300 is one of my favourite movies. Based on an illustrated novel, the movie tells a story about a Spartan King Leonidas who leads his army of 300 soldiers into battle against the invading Persian army. An inspiring story and a good movie. (I heard both the movie and the novel were based on a Greek story. I'm not very good at history so I don't know the exact story)
Thought to draw king Leo using HB, 6B and charcoal pencils. So here it is...THE SPARTAN KING. Sorry about the bad quality of the photo.

Note: If you are interested in learning more about the movie, you can follow the link below.

Pencil Drawing of Lasith Malinga

Lasith Malinga. Every Sri Lankan knows who this guy is. He is one of the most popular cricket players in Sri Lanka. This guy has an unique way of bowling and also wears a hair style of his own. Recently he had some issues with the media which lead to some bad criticism. Some hardcore Sri Lankan cricket fans still hate him  for that incident. But I have have to say, that Mr. Lasith Malinga  is one of a kind and a very talented fast bowler in the modern day cricket world.

This is me trying to draw Malinga. 2B and 6B pencils were used for this attempt. Enjoy!!!!!

My Experiments with Ink and Water

For these drawings I used Indian ink (which I used when I was a child at school for writing). I am still learning the art and finding my way to master a style of my own. So here goes.....

Digital Sketching with my phone

Mobile phone. What can I say...It has come a long way. Now we use phones not only to call or to text, but for different different purposes. I have a phone too. An android phone. Well...as an ordinary guy in Sri Lanka, owning an "android" phone (or an iphone/ ipad) is still a big deal. Even when it is one of the most basic android phones you can get. So I am a proud owner of an android phone called the hTC Wildfire S. :) Anyway, the phone has a 3.5"(something) display. I installed an app called "Sketch n Draw". A cool drawing app I enjoy a lot.
In this app, what you get is a blank canvas, some cool brushes and colors. Your fingers have to do all the hard work since you are dealing with a very small display. Anyway, enough with my bad English. Here are
some of my work. Hope you guys will like them.

P.S. You will see the word "Dhanushka" (well..my name) in most of the drawings. I add that with a photo editing tool. Its got nothing to do with the drawing..;)

Jhonny Depp

Drawing with a ballpoint pen is bit harder than sketching with a pencil. Once you made a mistake, you cannot change it back (just like in life). I like to experiment with ball point pens. But I think I still need lot of practice.
Jhonny Depp is one of my favorite actors. I always wanted to draw him. So here goes...
